What is the Lorentz collection and what does it include?
The Lorentz collection brings together professional solar pumping systems for wells, tanks, irrigation, and pools. It includes helical and centrifugal submersible pumps, BOOST surface pumps, MPPT controllers (PS2-150/600/1800/4000), ECDrive motors, PE hydraulic bodies (centrifugal and helical), protections, and spare parts. Important: in the PS2 series, the controller is included with the pump; the PU (Pump Unit) series and PE bodies are supplied without controller for replacement or for assembly with a compatible controller.
Advantages and limitations
- High efficiency with MPPT electronics optimized for solar energy.
- Wide hydraulic range (head/flow) with helical options for high heads and centrifugal for high flow.
- Modular architecture: interchangeable motor, hydraulic body, and controller.
- Electrical protections and level sensors can be integrated for safe operation.
- Limitations: select the correct controller and hydraulic curve; check water quality, well diameter, and electrical protection.
Applications
- Potable water supply from well or borehole.
- Drip and sprinkler irrigation on farms and agricultural operations.
- Transfer and pressurization with BOOST surface pumps.
- Recirculation/filtration in solar pools and ponds.
How to choose your Lorentz system
- Hydraulic requirement: define total manometric head (HMT) and required flow; choose helicoidal for high head and centrifugal for higher flow.
- Power supply: size the PV array (power/peak and Voc/Isc) within the controller's window.
-
Set:
- PS2: pump + controller included, ready-to-install solution.
- PU/PE: without controller; requires selecting a compatible PS2 controller and, if applicable, ECDrive motor.
- Well diameter: ensure compatibility (3”, 4”, etc.).
- Control: add well/tank probes, dry-run protection, and pressure switches if using pressurized storage.
Indicative specifications
| Hydraulic types | Helicoidal (high H) / Centrifugal (high Q) |
| Typical range | Up to >100–200 m head and >5–30 m³/h (depending on model) |
| Power supply | Solar PV DC; options with AC start for surface pumps |
| Control | MPPT PS2 controllers with protections and probe inputs |
| Format | Submersible 3”/4”/5” and surface BOOST |
| Composition | PS2 (with controller) / PU and PE (without controller) |
Installation Best Practices
- Size the PV array by power and voltage (Voc at low temperature) within the controller's range.
- Install DC protections on the solar side and use cable of appropriate cross-section and length.
- Use check valve, filter, and cooling sleeve when applicable; respect well depth and ventilation.
- Configure well and tank probes to prevent dry running and overflows.
- In pressure systems, include expansion vessel and pressure switch.
Quick Comparisons
- PS2: complete system with controller; quick commissioning and comprehensive support.
- PU: pump without controller for replacement or integration with an existing controller.
- PE: hydraulic body for maintenance or reconfiguration of the unit.
- BOOST (surface): pressurization/transfer with simple priming and easy maintenance.
