Specifications
Product description
The SMA Sunny Tripower 5kW STP5.0-3SE-40 Three-Phase HV Hybrid Inverter is the “all-in-one” evolution for three-phase self-consumption with high-voltage battery. It integrates a grid-tied inverter, HV battery charger/manager, and automatic backup function to maintain household loads during an outage (using switching accessories and protections required by regulations). With 5 kW (5 kVA) nominal power, 2 MPPTs, and IP65 enclosure, it offers high efficiency, reliable outdoor installation, and fast commissioning via the web assistant. Native connectivity (WLAN/Ethernet, Modbus/SunSpec) and the SMA Smart Connected service simplify control and maintenance, while its HV architecture maximizes charge/discharge efficiency and compatibility with high-voltage lithium batteries.
Main features
- Three-phase output power: 5 kW (5 kVA) at 3/N/PE 230/400 V; nominal IAC ≈ 3×7.6 A.
- 2 independent MPPTs (1 string per MPPT) to combine two orientations.
- PV MPP window: ≈215–800 V; max. input voltage 850 Vdc.
- Current per input: Imax 12 A, ISC 18 A (each MPPT).
- HV battery (lithium, typ. 100–550 Vdc): high-efficiency charge/discharge management (up to ~30 A, depending on battery), discharge power up to 5 kW.
- Automatic backup for household loads (requires appropriate switching equipment and protections).
- Protection IP65, fanless design (convection), −25…+60 °C; silent operation.
- Connectivity: WLAN/Ethernet (Speedwire), Webconnect, Modbus SMA/SunSpec, RS-485; Sunny Portal / Sunny Places ecosystem with SMA Smart Connected.
- Optimization and safety algorithms: ShadeFix/OptiTrac and arc detection (AFCI).
Advantages or benefits
- Self-consumption with HV battery: stores surplus for night and peak times, reducing the electricity bill.
- Service continuity: automatic backup switching to maintain critical loads during an outage.
- Design flexibility: two MPPTs for east/west roofs or different slopes without loss of performance.
- Total connectivity: integration with meters, Home Manager, and EV charger for zero feed-in strategies and smart energy.
- Robustness and low maintenance: IP65 and convection cooling, designed for outdoor use.
Purpose or applications
Perfect for homes and small businesses with 3×400 V supply seeking a 5 kW HV hybrid inverter for self-consumption with battery, feed-in control, and backup capability. Suitable for PV arrays of 6–10 kWp, integration of heat pump and electric vehicle charger under unified energy management.
