Solar Submersible Pumps

Trabajamos Lorentz PS2 (incluye controlador MPPT), Grundfos SQFlex, ZIRI, Shurflo 9325 y Acrosun Belenus.

What is a solar submersible pump and what is it used for?

A solar submersible pump converts solar energy into hydraulic energy to extract water from a well, borehole, or cistern. It operates fully submerged and, through an MPPT controller or integrated electronics, delivers flow rate and pressure adapted to the available solar resource. In our catalogue you will find Lorentz PS2 (kit with controller), Grundfos SQFlex (compatible with CU200), ZIRI, Shurflo 9325 (with LCB-G75), and Acrosun Belenus, covering from modest flow rates to very high heads.

Advantages and limitations

  • Efficiency and autonomy: off-grid operation, very low operating cost, and long service life.
  • Hydraulic versatility: centrifugal models for higher flow at medium heads and helical models for large water columns.
  • Simple integration: dedicated solar electronics (PS2, CU200, LCB) and plug-and-play accessories.
  • Limitations: output depends on irradiation; for 24/7 service, an intermediate tank and/or hybrid backup may be required (see hybrid).

Common applications

  • Domestic supply from well/borehole with elevated tank or storage.
  • Agricultural irrigation (drip/sprinkler) and livestock with daytime scheduling.
  • Transfer to tanks, cisterns, and remote troughs without electrical grid.

How to choose your solar submersible pump

  • Operating point: define flow rate (m³/h) and Total Manometric Head (TMH, m) = geodetic height + losses (piping, elbows, valves, filters).
  • Hydraulics: centrifugal (C-SJ/SQ series) for high flow and low-medium heads; helical (HRE/SH) for high heads with moderate flow.
  • Borehole diameter: 3" or 4" (check sleeve, centralizers, and cable passage).
  • Electronics: PS2 already includes MPPT controller; SQFlex supports CU200; Shurflo 9325 uses LCB-G75. Lorentz PU units without controller are offered as spare parts.
  • Water quality: if there are sediments, add a filter/strainer and well probe to protect against dry running.
  • PV array: size PV power and voltage according to the pump and controller curve, prioritizing useful pumping hours.

Indicative specifications

Typical flow rate 0.4–53 m³/h (depending on model and hydraulics)
Manometric head 10–240+ m for helical; up to ~120 m for many centrifugal models
Pump diameter 3" and 4"
Electronic control Integrated MPPT (PS2) / CU200 (SQFlex) / LCB-G75 (Shurflo 9325)
Protections Non-return, thermal, dry running (probes), DC overvoltage
Typical installation Well/borehole + intermediate tank + pressure pump to consumption

Best practices

  • Select the model based on its flow-head curve at the actual operating point, not by maximum values.
  • Size piping and cable (cross-section) to minimize losses and voltage drop.
  • Use a level probe in well and tank; enable dry run stop in the controller.
  • In battery-free systems, use an elevated or storage tank to ensure water outside solar hours.
  • Maintenance plan: check connections, insulation, filters/strainers, and non-return valve.

Comparisons and related accessories

If you need continuity with grid or generator, consider hybrid submersible pumps. If you have a stable grid, check AC submersibles. To supply taps and showers from the tank, add a pressure pump. Complement with accessories (controllers, probes, DC protections) and find specific components in spare parts. Return to the overview at Submersible Pumps or to Water Pumps.
