What are DC Electrical Protections?
The DC Protections collection includes specific devices for PV strings and DC buses: gPV fuses, load-break disconnectors, DC circuit breakers, and PV-type surge protection devices.
Advantages and limitations
- Safety against short circuits and ground faults.
- Inverter protection and limitation of damage from overvoltages.
- Limitation: curve and breaking capacity must match actual voltage and current.
Applications
- String protection and grouping in combiner boxes.
- Safe disconnection for maintenance.
How to choose
- Check Ucpv (maximum DC voltage) and Isc of the generator.
- Coordinate SPD with the system topology and the distance to the inverter.
- Install in enclosures with suitable IP rating.
Specifications (indicative)
| Fuses | gPV, rating according to Isc and number of strings |
| Disconnection | DC under load, poles and Ucpv as appropriate |
| SPD PV | Type II/III depending on location |
| MT curve | Specific DC curves |
