What is an off-grid inverter?
An off-grid inverter converts the energy in direct current (DC) stored in batteries or coming from photovoltaic panels into alternating current (AC) to power appliances and equipment without relying on the public grid. It is the heart of off-grid solar systems, whether in rural homes, cabins, caravans, or boats.
Types of off-grid inverters
- 12V, 24V and 48V: chosen according to power and battery bank size.
- With charger (12/24/48V): allow charging batteries from a generator or auxiliary grid.
- With charger + MPPT: integrate the MPPT solar charge controller to connect panels directly and simplify the system.
- With MPPT: models that incorporate internal photovoltaic regulation.
